Elk M1XEP Email / SSL Email

Elk M1XEP Email / SSL Email

The M1XEP incorporates an Ethernet Module from the Digi Corporation called the Digi ConnectME. The Digi ConnectME module supports the M1XEP’s built in web interface Virtual Keypad, email feature and well as other features.  Elk's ElkRP/M1XEP Engineer has been in contact with Digi in an attempt to incorporate SSL Encryption on the “Body” of the email message but due to hardware and memory restrictions it is not available. At this time there are several options available for free non-SSL Encrypted email providers but first we suggest you contact your internet email provider as most will provide 1 or more free email addresses and normally they do not require an SSL connection.

At the time of writing, both Rogers and Bell/Sympatico provide several FREE email accounts that can be used to send your emails without encryption.

If you are having trouble connecting, try manually entering the DNS information in to the M1XEP (check your router for the correct DNS entry), as we've heard that sometimes the M1XEP does not get the proper DNS server information through DHCP.
