In order to keep your camera and your network secure, it's critically important to keep the firmware on your Foscam Camera or NVR up to date.  Firmware is like the operating system for your camera and it contains not only new features but also security patches.  These security patches along with using a strong unique password for each device, will help protect you from malware and hacks.

For most newer cameras the firmware may be upgraded using the Foscam iOs or Android app.  It's also possible to manually apply updates using a web browser and a downloaded update file(s).  Be sure to read the instructions completely and carefully before upgrading to avoid turning your device in to a paperweight.  Damage caused by incorrectly applying a firmware update may not be covered by Foscam's warranty.
