Foscam Responds To Security Vulnerability

Foscam hs released the following statement about a security vulnerability reported on some news channels.  Please read carefully to ensure your Foscam camera has been set up securely to prevent outside evesdropping.

Actually, there is no need to worry about this issue, Foscam already have the solution in the latest firmware which were released in June. Foscam provides the following ways to protect the unwelcomed intruding.
1. Set new username/password for the camera. Many users do not change the default password, then the hacker can easily control the camera if they find the IP or URL of the camera, by some search engine. Changing username/password can reject 90% of such issues. Users can easily change the password via web UI below.

2. Some higher level hackers may try out the password by performing a brute-force attack. Foscam firmware already built in the function to protect the password. New firmware are available from our distributor/reseller, and from Foscam website.

3. Some hackers even modify the firmware to build in some functions without any notice by users. Foscam firmware is encrypted by AES 128bit, the firmware can not be edited by hacker and Foscam device can only accept Foscam firmware.

The firmware mentioned above was released in June/2013. Users can upgrade firmware to make the camera safe. And Foscam will do more testing on security and keep improving.

We feel very angry with the hacker that shout to the 2-year-old baby, and feel very sorry for the baby's parents. We are getting connected with the parents to apologize and teach them how to protect from the hacker if they need.
