How to Install SmartThings Edge Drivers
SmartThings allows you to manage your smart home from a single app - but to ensure optimal performance, speed, and compatibility, installing the right Edge Driver is essential. Edge Drivers enable local control, unlock advanced features, and are sometimes required for certain devices to function properly.
Without the correct driver, your hub may fall back on a generic version that can cause issues like limited functionality, dimming problems, network instability, or missing device parameters. Installing an Edge Driver is simple - just follow the appropriate link below, log into your SmartThings account, and add the driver to your selected hub.
How to Install SmartThings Edge Drivers
It’s recommended to install the Edge driver before adding the device to your hub.
- Open the Edge Driver Invitation Link (individual invitation links can be found below) and log in with your Samsung or SmartThings account.
- Enroll your selected hub.
- Go to Available Drivers.
- Install the Edge Driver corresponding to your device(s).
- After a few minutes, your hub will have the selected Edge Drivers installed, allowing you to add the device(s) following the instructions in the device manual.
If the device is already installed, you can try manually assigning the driver.
- Follow the instructions in the section above to install the driver.
- On the SmartThings app, go to the device page by clicking on the device tile.
- Click the three dots in the top corner, select Driver, click “Different Driver” in blue at the bottom of the driver page, and choose the correct driver for your device.
