How to Reset/Reboot the First Alert SC5 Smoke & CO Alarm

In many cases, common problems like false alerts or communication issues can be fixed by factory resetting the First Alert SC5 Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarm.
The steps below also explain how to remove an SC5 device from your First Alert account.

Unpair the Unit from your First Alert Account
  1. Open the First Alert mobile app. Select the device you want to remove.
  2. Select the device again to access it's menu.

  3. Select Settings from the top options.

  4. Select Delete Device.

Press the Test/Reset Button
To factory reset the device, hold the Test/Reset button for 20-30 seconds until the LED turns RED.


Reboot the Device
To reboot the device, hold the Test/Reset button for 6-10 seconds until the LED turns AMBER.


*If you want to add this device to a different account or location, it can take up to 50 minutes for it to fully unpair from the current account and be ready to pair with a new one.
