Upgrade from ISY994 to EISY

The excellent ISY994 is no longer supported or actively developed so at some point ISY users will want to upgrade to the newer EISY from Universal Devices.  The EISY builds on the ISY history with more power & features.  Some reasons to consider upgrading:

  1. No longer supported
  2. EISY supports newer i3 devices which will not be supported on ISY
  3. EISY supports matter and zwave expansion
  4. Instant push notifications with the new app
  5. Geo fencing
  6. More integrations - Ring, Ecobee, Elk, Tesla, Roomba, Wemo, Sonos and weather services
  7. Same familiar admin console

How Do I Upgrade From ISY99 / ISY994 to EISY?


You'll need to purchase the EISY and serial PLM adapter to allow the existing serial PLM to connect to the EISY USB port.  If you have ZWave devices you'll also need a ZMatter USB module.  Then it's pretty simple:

  1. Read the docs.  Start with https://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=Eisy:User_Guide#Z-Wave_Support
  2. Back up your ISY994
  3. Make sure you are on firmware 4.x or 5.x - if you aren't, upgrade first, make sure everything is working, and then start from #1
  4. Disconnect the PLM from the ISY
  5. Connect the Serial Adapter to the EISY (Do not try to use a 3rd party USB-Serial adapter as it won't work because the pin-out is different)
  6. Connect the Serial PLM to the Serial Adapter
  7. Restore the backup on your new EISY
  8. Use the one-click migration/upgrade in the ISY portal
  9. Check devices and programs.
