Can't Program X10 Address In To SwitchLinc Insteon Device

Most Insteon devices can accept an X10 code and can be controlled by an X10 wired transmitter.  However Insteon devices do not come pre-set with any X10 address. You must program one.  Here's how:

  1. Put the Insteon device in to Link Mode (press set button and hold for 3-4 seconds, or press and hold dimmer for 10 seconds, see device instructions)
  2. If you have an X10 Maxi controller you can just press the unit button on the device 1-3 times
  3. On other controllers, for the unit code you wish to set, send on-off-on instead
