Connecting ELV-WSV2 Water Valve To Alarm Zone For Valve Status

Connecting ELV-WSV2 Water Valve To Alarm Zone For Valve Status

The ELK-WSV2 shut-off valve is a heavy duty motorized water valve.  It also has a manual valve open/close lever.  For a number of reasons, it's important to know whether the valve is open or closed.  For example if it is moved manually, or to confirm that it is actually working during operation.  Fortunately it has a connection for this purpose.

When the WSV2 is closed the Green Wire will output + 12 VDC. In order to connect this output to a Zone on the M1 please make the following connections:

  • Connect the Green Wire from the WSV2 to a ZONE
  • Connect a Jumper from the BLACK Wire on WSV2 or from the DC Negative of the Power Supply for the WSV2 to any NEG on the M1. This connection is necessary to provide a Common DC Negative between the two power sources
  • Install the appropriate EOL Resistor “Across” the Zone and Zone Common/Negative
  • When the WSV2 valve is open the Zone will be Normal at ~ 7.5 V and when the valve closes the Zone will be Open/Violated or ~12 VDC
  • Define the Zone and the Wiring Type as EOL
  • Alternately, use the GREEN (+12V out) and BLACK (neg) of the WSV2 to control a Relay to provide a DRY contact to a Zone
