Evolve T100R Change To Heat Pump

Evolve T100R Change To Heat Pump

System Operation – Fan Coil/PTAC vs. Heat Pump:

The Evolve thermostat have two most commonly engaged modes:

  1. Fan Coil: This setting also pertains to PTAC operation, as it does not require the integration of a change-over (reversing) valve.
  2. Heat Pump: This setting is used for systems that require the integration of a change-over (reversing) valve.

To access the on-screen setup, perform the following steps:

  1. Press any button on the thermostat to “wake it up.” The LCD display will illuminate if it was previously timed out.
  2. Enter the menu selection screen by pressing and holding the left (ON/OFF) and right (F/C) buttons together simultaneously for 7-seconds. A photo of this screen is shown below.

Use the Temp UP and Temp DOWN buttons to navigate up and down the menu pages. Use the select button to advance into each screen. Use the “Done” button to exit the current screen and backtrack one page. Use the (+) and (-) buttons to alter configurations where applicable.

From the Menu selection screen, scroll to Installer Settings and press Select.

Scroll to System Settings and press Select

Scroll to Mechanical Settings and press Select

Press Done until returning to the main thermostat screen

  • The Sys Type, or “System Type” settings allow for either Fan Coil (includes PTAC operation) or Heat Pump selections. Note: in order to set a 2-speed heat pump setting, the system type must be set to “Heat Pump B”.
  • The Fan Type settings allow for adjustments between 1-3 fan speeds in a Fan Coil setting. For multi-fan speed heat pump applications, the Sys Type must be set to “Heat Pump-B”, which differs from “Heat Pump.” For a 1-speed system, “Heat Pump” must be selected, and the Fan Type should be set to Elec or “Electric” for those units with an electric heat strip.
  • The C/O Type or “Change-Over Type” is relevant while the system is controlling a Heat Pump. This allows the reversing valve to be energized either during a cooling OR heating call.
  • Aux Heat in Heat Pump systems: To engage the auxiliary heat strip in a heat pump, scroll to the second page of the Mechanical Settings, and change the “Aux Heat” setting to “Y”. Also ensure the Fan Type is selected as “Elec” on “Heat Pump” systems.
