Ecolink SLX-AD-T3 FireFighter Compatibility with recent Qolsys IQ4 alarm control panel firmware

Summary of Reported Observations and Resulting Issue:
The SLX-AD-T3 FireFighter sends a supervisory signal (every 72 minutes +/-10%); the Qolsys IQ4 control panel should
register these incoming supervisory transmissions.
Recently we have had reports from the field that the Qolsys IQ4 control panels with firmware release 3.3.1 onward
may report a LOS/loss of supervision state within 24-72 hours when installing a GE/Interlogix compatible SLX-AD-T3 FireFighter.

Use Case:
This can occur when using the “auto learn sensor” function in the installer toolbox, or when manually learning in the
SLX-AD-T3 FireFighter. When auto learning in the SLX-AD-T3 the “Sensor Type: Smoke Detector” is automatically
populated when learning in the device, or when choosing the same “Sensor Type: Smoke Detector” when manually
programming the zone parameters.

Solution Alternate SLX-AD-T3 FireFighter Sensor Type Selection:
For SLX-AD-T3 FireFighter sensor installations where a suitable fire alarm state will report, and supervisory
transmission signals are interpreted correctly by the Qolsys IQ4 alarm panel is desired, using “Sensor Type: Smoke-
M” will be required as opposed to the automatically populated, or assumed standard selection of a non-Qolsys
device “Sensor Type: Smoke Detector” option.

1. Select programming by selecting the 'Settings' option
2. Select the 'Advanced Settings' option. This will require using installer code
3. Select 'Installation' to add devices
4. Select 'Devices' to add devices
5. Select 'Security Sensors' to add devices to the zone map
6. Select 'Auto Learn Sensor' and trigger the tamper to add the SLX-AD-T3 FireFighter sensor to the Qolsys
IQ4 alarm control panel. This will populate the DL ID in the appropriate field
7. Select “Smoke-M” in the Sensor Type dropdown menu

8. Edit other fields as needed for name, chime, voice; select Source 'SecurityRF319' for RF Frequency as needed
9. Select 'ADD NEW' to complete addition of the SLX-AD-T3 FireFighter sensor to the controller

Variability in Controller Firmware
Based on variability in Qolsys control panel firmware, this may be an ongoing issue moving forward. Please let end users as well as our Pro and installing dealers know the current solution to this issue if they inquire for support.
