An electric strike or door strike is used to remotely release the latch/bolt of a door. They are typically used with access control or entry systems. Choosing a door strike can be complicated and installing one is best left to pro installers like locksmiths as they have the skill to select the strike and cut the frame accurately without making a mess and to ensure integrity of the door. We don't recommend DIY self install of door strikes for this reason. There are universal strikes available but the installer must still understand if they will operate at 12 or 24 volts, fail safe or fail secure, depth and size of the frame, frame material, type of lock/latch, if there is any holding/binding force, and so on.
